Dear Camry Driving #&@*%!#,

Hey, "neighbor." Boy it sure was a pleasure being tailgated by you on the way home yesterday. It was pretty awesome. But even better? When you PASSED me in our neighborhood, because going 30mph in a residential neighborhood just wasn't fast enough for you. Now THAT was awesome.

Because, you know, all of the kids out riding their bikes and people walking their dogs - they don't matter. Go ahead and pass another car and be a complete %$@# about it. Getting home after a hard day at work SHOULD be a race and a total disregard for the safety of your neighbors.

You're swell. I sure hope I see you around again. I have a couple of words for you...

Signed,

Me

  1. Thank you so much for this. I can't even count the times I've had someone do this. When a mustang (driven by some spoiled 17-year-old) gunned it to get across in front of me ON THE CROSSWALK, I really wish I'd had the presence of mind to smash his trunk as he passed. Why do people think that because you're in a car, suddenly courtesy and manners don't apply?

  2. I hate people like that - it happens more often than not. Even though in reality they are probably a complete butt - I like to pretend that they are in some kind of emergency and their life depends on them making it to their destination on time... I know it's ridiculous but it helps me stay on the right side of sane vs. insane.

  3. Kelli- If this had been a 17-year-old kid, I might have understood a bit more, but this was an adult man. Ugh.

Carrie - I did have that thought yesterday as I was writing this. It didn't help much, but I suppose I could pretend. :)

  4. Carrie, I used to do that. But then I got old and cynical. ;) Thanks for the reminder. I'll try to give people the benefit of the doubt more.

  5. That happened to my mom once, only she was walking in a crosswalk while pushing my niece in a stroller when it happened. Oh the world we live in.
